De Laurentiis - Rog exit on the cards

11th January 2019, 15:53 by Tom McGarry

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has hinted that Marko Rog could leave the club before the close of this month's transfer window.

The Croatia international has struggled to hold down a regular first-team place since arriving at the Stadio San Paolo from Dinamo Zagreb during the summer of 2016 and he has only started four times in Serie A this season.

That lack of first-team action has led to speculation that Rog could leave Napoli during this month's transfer window, with Spanish outfit Sevilla and Bundesliga giants Schalke both being attributed with an interest.

Rog's preferred choice is believed to be Sevilla and De Laurentiis has hinted that move is a possibility, although it is by no means a foregone conclusion.

"I'm not used to buying players and then loaning them out," De Laurentiis told ABC de Sevilla.

"It's not in my philosophy and we don't want to do that. Rog to Sevilla? It's possible, but they're not the only club who want the Croatian.

"There are many teams interested in him. I have to go back to Italy and talk to Ancelotti. Once I do that, we'll make a decision and know what to do."
