Andreescu ready to face 'amazing' Williams
Bianca Andreescu admits it has always been a dream to play Serena Williams as she prepares to face the American in the US Open final.
Canada's Andreescu had never even played in the main draw at Flushing Meadows before this year's event but is now one win away from becoming a Grand Slam champion at the age of 19.
However, there is a major obstacle in her path, as Williams tries once again to secure a record-equalling 24th Grand Slam title.
Most things point to a win for the home favourite and Andreescu confessed that she has shocked herself in New York.
"Had someone told me last year that I'd be in this final I don't think I would have believed them," she said. "I was ranked, like, outside 150, I think. It's just crazy what a year can do.
"In fact if someone would have said that a couple of weeks ago, I don't think I would have believed them."
Regardless of what happens, Andreescu is just relishing the opportunity to take on a legend of the sport and wants to embrace the experience.
"I've always wanted to play Serena. I remember always telling my team I wanted to play her right before she retires," she added.
"I'm really looking forward to it. She's an amazing champion on and off the court. It's going to be fun."
