Bouchard taking time out
Eugenie Bouchard has responded to her recent loss of form by taking a break from tennis in a bid to "get healthy" ahead of a return.
The 25-year-old former world number five had managed to haul herself up the rankings from 194th in June 2018 to 76th position on the back of some good form that included quarter-final appearances in both Auckland and Newport earlier this year.
However, Bouchard has subsequently hit the buffers, with five defeats in her last six matches, which resulted in her failing to qualify for the Miami Open.
The 2014 Wimbledon finalist then withdrew from the tournament in Monterrey and this week's WTA Tour event in Bogota, Colombia.
Bouchard has also not entered the main draws of the upcoming Madrid or Rome events, which suggests she could skip the French Open.
Instead, an Instagram posting has revealed that she has been back in her homeland of Canada, spending time with her family and recharging her batteries.
