Federer lands Kohlschreiber for Dubai opener
Roger Federer will go up against Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber in round one of the Dubai Tennis Championships.
Federer, 37, has won the United Arab Emirates event an incredible seven times in his stellar career and number eight would see him move on to 100 tour level titles.
The Swiss ace will take on the 35-year-old world number 33 with history in his favour, having never lost to the 2012 Wimbledon quarter-finalist in 13 matches.
Should he advance to round two, then another 35-year-old in Spain’s Fernando Verdasco may well be waiting as the world number 26 will kick off his tournament against a qualifier.
Japan's Kei Nishikori is seeded one for the event, with Federer two and giant Croatian Marin Cilic third, but 20-time Grand Slam winner Federer is a firm favourite to lift the trophy on March 2.
