Halep confirms Cahill return
Wimbledon champion Simona Halep has announced she will be reuniting with former coach Darren Cahill following a year apart.
The duo previously worked together for four years until Cahill opted to take a hiatus from the sport to spend more time with his family in Australia.
During their first spell working together, Halep won her first Grand Slam title at the 2018 French Open, as well as reaching three other major finals, while she also twice finished the year at the top of the WTA rankings.
The Romanian has also enjoyed success under Cahill's successor, Daniel Dobre, as she won her second Grand Slam title at SW19 during the summer.
However, following her second-round exit at the US Open, she has now opted to return to her former coach although they won't officially start working together again until the new year.
"Darren will be back by my side next season," Halep confirmed on Twitter. "Can't wait to finish what we started."
Halep is currently ranked at number six in the world although her victory at Wimbledon in July represents her only WTA title so far this year.
