Konta in confident mood ahead of US Open
Johanna Konta is confident she can enjoy another extended run at a Grand Slam during this year's US Open.
The British number one will head into the final Grand Slam of the year at Flushing Meadows having reached the semi-finals of the French Open and the last eight at Wimbledon over recent months.
Indeed, the US Open is the only one of the big four events where Konta has not previously made it through to the semi-finals at least, with her best showing in New York to date coming when she reached the fourth round in both 2015 and 2016.
The 28-year-old is now hoping she can go deep in this year's event and she insists she is well prepared despite not playing many competitive matches since Wimbledon.
"If you take a zoomed in look at it I haven't played many matches since Wimbledon," Konta told reporters. "However, if you take the season as a whole I've played over 50 matches.
"So I've played a lot of matches and won quite a lot of them as well, which is a good position to be in."
Konta is the number 16 seed in New York this year but she has been handed a testing opening match of the tournament as she will face former world number 10 Daria Kasatkina in the first round on Monday.
