Munar waits for final four place

8th November 2018, 18:46 by Tom Hill

Jaume Munar managed to beat Frances Tiafoe but he must wait to see if he can advance into the semi-finals of the Next Gen Finals.

Munar knew he had to beat the American on Thursday and he did it with ease as he secured a 4-1 4-3 4-1 victory.

However, his place in the final four is not confirmed after his defeat to Polish No.1 Hubert Hurkacz on Wednesday.

Munar is now hoping to see top seed Stefanos Tsitsipas beat Hurkacz, which would guarantee him his place in the next round.

He told the ATP Tour official website: "I did what I had to do, and it's not in my hands anymore. Maybe we can buy a Greek flag or whatever for support.

"But it's not in my hands anymore. At least I felt like I was a good tennis player out there today, so this is important for me. At least I will live with that sensation.

"It was another match for me. I knew I had to play a little bit better tennis."
