No WTA Champs chance for Konta
Johanna Konta will not play in the season-ending WTA Championships as she has opted to miss the Asian swing this autumn.
The 28-year-old is nursing "slight knee pain" and will play no part in the China Open in Beijing, while she did not enter next week's Wuhan event.
The British number one is currently 11th in the annual WTA singles race and, with only the top eight set to feature WTA Championships in Shenzhen, Konta will not be able to bridge the gap.
It is thought the three-time Grand Slam semi-finalist will next be seen in Moscow in October, while she could still play in the Elite Trophy.
That is for the next 11 players - plus a wildcard - on the list and takes place in the Chinese city of Zhuhai at the end of next month.
Konta reached the French Open semi-finals at Roland Garros and made it to the last eight at both Wimbledon and the US Open, but has yet to lift a Grand Slam trophy.
