Wenger targets PSG starlet

7th April 2014, 05:40 by Michael Holland

Paris Saint-Germain's Marco Verratti is being linked with Arsenal as Arsene Wenger looks to bolster his midfield.

Wenger is said to be unhappy with the performances of Mathieu Flamini and Mikel Arteta while Jack Wilshere, Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey have been out of the side, and is keen to bring in more quality.

Verratti is just 21 and is seen as a star of the future, but it remains to be seen if the French giants would be interested in letting such a player move on.

The Italian international has been a regular in the PSG side this season and played a key role as they defeated Chelsea 3-1 in the Champions League last week.

However PSG have plenty of options in the middle of the park, and it has been suggested they will look to cash in on Verratti and use the money to sign Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba.

That could open the door for Arsenal to swoop but considering he has a contract until 2018, he will not come cheap.
