Haye excited by Joshua's chances

12th November 2019, 18:00 by Tom Hill

David Haye says Derek Chisora has been impressed by Anthony Joshua after sparring with him last week.

Joshua is less than a month away from his rematch with Andy Ruiz Jr following his shock loss in June in New York.

The pair will clash for the IBF, WBA and WBO heavyweight titles in Saudi Arabia and Chisora has been drafted in as a sparring partner.

Haye says his fighter has been very impressed and all signs point to an explosive fight in December.

He told Sky Sports: "He sparred with AJ, he didn't even tell me. Normally he wouldn't do it. But he's ticked over in the gym and said he enjoyed sparring.

"Derek was impressed. AJ was super-fit, in great shape, focused on his boxing.

"All the right noises were coming out of the camp. There were multiple sparring partners, including Bryant Jennings.

"AJ has slimmed down - if you're going to have a long-range boxing match then trim off any unnecessary muscle."
