Archer backed by Cook for England World Cup squad
Jofra Archer should be in Eoin Morgan's World Cup side, according to former England captain Sir Alastair Cook.
Archer was not included in the provisional 15-man squad but played for the Three Lions during the recent 50-over series against Pakistan.
The 24-year-old performed well as the hosts wrapped up a 4-0 series success, bowling with express pace at times to cause opposition batsmen problems.
The final squad will be unveiled on Tuesday and many pundits feel Barbados-born Archer should be among the party, with Cook seeing no reason to disagree.
"I think he comes into that side. Certainly into the squad and I think into most people's side," said the Essex man. "We've seen glimpses and I think England have managed him quite well. We're seeing the start of a guy who can bowl 90mph, has great skills at the death, and we haven't even seen him bat yet – and the guy can bat.
"He'd be in my team, and unfortunately him arriving now means someone who has done a lot of work in the evolution of this side is going to miss out."
