Gasly still unhappy after Red Bull demotion
Toro Rosso driver Pierre Gasly admits he was angry when Red Bull told him he would be dropped from the team.
The Frenchman impressed many in 2018 with his performances for an noncompetitive Toro Rosso team and was promoted to Red Bull for the start of this season.
However, he did not have a successful stint for Red Bull as he was completely outperformed by team mate Max Verstappen.
Going into the mid-season summer break, Gasly had failed to finish on the podium and was over 100 points behind his team-mate in the drivers' standings.
Despite being assured his seat was safe he received a phone call saying he would be dropped by down to Toro Rosso with Alexander Albon taking his place.
And, the decision still clearly rankles with the 23-year-old.
"Of course when I got the news I was really shocked and kind of angry," Gasly told Motorsportweek.com. "I don't feel it was fair, because these first six months were nowhere near what we should have shown.
"You do care, because you want to be in the fastest car."
