Poston wins Wyndham Championship

5th August 2019, 12:28 by Michael Holland

JT Poston secured his first PGA Tour title when pipping Webb Simpson by one shot in the Wyndham Championship.

The 26-year-old went bogey-free over the entire 72 holes in North Carolina and secured the title with a final-round score of 62 to finish the tournament on 22 under.

An Byeong-hun had led the tournament throughout and held a one-shot advantage heading into the final round, but the South Korean let the title slip through his hands as he picked up two late bogeys.

An, who was also seeking his maiden PGA title, had not dropped a shot throughout the tournament until he reached the 15th, where he slipped to two strokes off the lead with a bogey.

He got the shot back with a birdie at the next, but with Poston in the clubhouse with a one-stroke lead, An needed to birdie the last to force a play-off.

However he ended up picking up his second bogey to finish third and hand the title to Polston, with Simpson, who birdied four of the final five holes taking second.
