Dettori reveals Stradivarius plans
Frankie Dettori says there is a chance Stradivarius could run in the Coronation Cup at Newmarket on June 5.
With UK racing set to resume from Monday after over two months off because of the coronavirus pandemic, and Irish action following in the footsteps a week later - trainer, owners and jockeys are gearing up for a busy six months.
Dettori is one of those riders readying himself for what lies ahead and the Italian maestro could be seen at Newmarket on Friday, with Stradivarius potentially being given a shot at the Coronation Cup.
The John Gosden-trained charge has won a £1million bonus for the past two years after taking four of the main staying races and he will be going for a third straight Gold Cup victory at Royal Ascot this year.
Speaking about the plans ahead of that three-peat attempt, Dettori revealed Stradivarius could be heading to racing's HQ.
"There's a possibility that Stradivarius will run in the Coronation Cup on the Friday," he said in his Sporting Index blog. "Strad is full of himself, he thinks he's a stallion and is looking really well.
"His main target is obviously the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot, but John felt that a prep race before then would do him plenty of good."
