Unbeaten Quorto suffers fatal injury
Unbeaten Group 1 winner Quorto suffered a fatal injury during training at Newmarket on Thursday, according to Charlie Appleby.
The four-year-old hasn't been seen since winning the National Stakes at the Curragh in 2018, having also earned victories in two outings at Newmarket.
Quorto rounded off his juvenile campaign, beating subsequent Derby winner Anthony Van Dyck, as the champion Irish two-year-old triumphed with an official rating of 121.
He has been absent in the meantime after sustaining an injury in March 2019, which ruled him out of the 2,000 Guineas, but connections were hoping to have the son of Dubawi back in action this year.
Appleby said: "Quorto was a very talented colt who was absolutely brilliant when winning the National Stakes and gave us a great day over in Ireland. It's a great shame that we did not get to see him on the racecourse again and he will be sorely missed by all the team at Moulton Paddocks."
