Juve forward linked with Burnley switch

12th June 2019, 16:39 by Gareth Freeman

Burnley are planning a loan move for Juventus forward Stephy Mavididi but they will face competition for his signature.

Mavididi began his career with Arsenal before moving to Juve last summer but managed just one appearance for the senior side as he linked up with their development squad.

Juve are keen to send the England youth international out on loan next season and the Clarets have been mooted as potential suitors as boss Sean Dyche is looking to boost his options in attack, with Jay Rodriguez also understood to be a target.

Burnley will face competition, however, as Premier League rivals Newcastle, Southampton and newly-promoted Aston Villa are all believed to be interested.

Mavididi didn't make a first-team appearance during his time with the Gunners but spent time on loan at Preston and Charlton, twice, earlier in his career.
