McDermott sees improvement in Wolfpack

14th February 2020, 12:29 by Gareth Freeman

Brian McDermott says his Toronto Wolfpack side are improving despite suffering three defeats in their first three games.

Toronto secured promotion to the Super League last season but have endured a tough start to the new season in the top flight.

The Wolfpack lost out to Castleford at Headingley in the first round of fixtures and have since suffered back-to-back defeats at Salford and Wigan.

Toronto scored first against the Warriors and then drew level at 10-10 in the second half before Wigan scored 22 unanswered points in the final 20 minutes to secure a 32-10 victory, but McDermott felt there were positives to take from that defeat.

"I thought it was a damp game against Castleford, our performance, our energy and our attitude towards the tough moments, I didn't think that was good round one," he said, as reported by Total Rugby League.

"Against Salford, I thought we improved hugely and against Wigan there tonight we improved again, we're adding elements to our game every week and I thought we were good for a win for a fair while in that game."
