Minichiello calls for Connor to work harder

8th September 2019, 13:09 by Alex Jack

Mark Minichiello has told his Hull FC team-mate Jake Connor he must work on areas of his game to be a more consistent player.

Connor was shown a yellow card in the closing stages of the 44-12 defeat against Castleford Tigers last time out at The Jungle.

The England utility back has been going through a dip in form but the Tigers need him to come good as they look to secure their place in the top five with a win at Wigan Warriors on Friday.

Minichiello, who was seen exchanging words with Connor after he was sin-binned against the Tigers, feels the 24-year-old needs to work on his game to get back to his previous impressive form.

"He's got to be more consistent," Minichiello said. "I don't really want to say too much.

"He's a very talented kid but there's lots of areas that he can work on to be a better player."
