Glasgow looking to tie down winger

14th December 2019, 18:21 by Bobbie Jackson

Glasgow Warriors are hoping to tie winger Tommy Seymour down to a new contract, according to head coach Dave Rennie.

The 31-year-old Tennessee-born winger announced his retirement from international rugby with Scotland earlier this week to focus on his domestic commitments.

That decision has been welcomed by Rennie, who will now be able to rely on Seymour during the 2020 Six Nations.

Seymour has been part of the set-up at Scotstoun since 2011 and his current deal is due to expire at the end of the season.

Rennie is hoping to avoid losing the highly-rated back to a potential rival and insists plans are already afoot to extend his contract.

"We've been in discussions with Tommy about his future; he loves the club, he wants to stay and we want him to be here," Rennie said.

"There's a couple of things that need sorted, I'd imagine, but we expect Tommy to be here long term."
