Milner-Skudder confirms further Toulon delay

14th December 2019, 19:37 by Bobbie Jackson

New Zealand international Nehe Milner-Skudder’s switch to Toulon has been delayed further due to an ongoing shoulder injury.

The 28-year-old agreed to join Toulon from Hurricanes a year ago but is yet to link up with the Top 14 outfit.

Milner-Skudder has been sidelined with a shoulder injury and is continuing to go through rehabilitation in the hope of returning to full fitness.

However, that still seems to be some way off and his future with the French club is now looking bleak.

He was aiming to report for training before the turn of the year but his latest video, posted to Twitter, reveals that is no longer on the cards.

Milner-Skudder said: "With great disappointment, I announce I won't be joining Toulon this month as planned.

"Due to ongoing issues with my shoulder both the club and myself decided its best I stay in New Zealand, rehabbing and getting back to full fitness before coming over.

"I really want to thank the Toulon rugby club for being so understanding through all of this, but also I want to apologise to fans for not being ready just yet.

"I'm really gutted that things haven't worked out the way I wanted to but I'm not one to give up and won't be giving up any time soon, I just need a bit more time and I'll do everything possible to get the body right."

Reports claim Toulon, who are yet to officially register his contract with the French League, are toying with the idea of cutting ties.
