Medvedev seeks response after Rotterdam exit

14th February 2020, 13:13 by Gareth Freeman

Daniil Medvedev has vowed to respond after suffering a last-32 exit at the hands of Vasek Pospisil at the Rotterdam Open.

Medvedev, who entered the tournament as the top seed, went down 6-4 6-3 to world number 104 Pospisil.

The Russian is disappointed to have been dumped out of the ATP 500 event in the Netherlands and hopes he can rediscover his form in the weeks ahead.

"I like Rotterdam, I like the tournament. It's really disappointing to finish the tournament so early. I had to be better to win," said the world number five, who reached the semi-finals in Rotterdam last year,

"I didn't manage to do it but I have to look to the future, practice hard and try to be better next time."

Medvedev also confirmed he intends to return to Rotterdam next year.

"Usually I have a better tournament here in terms of result," he added, as reported by Tennis World USA. "So I will be coming back next year to have a better result and show some better play."
